The following story was shared by Josh’s mom, Breanna C., and has been edited for length and clarity.

Meet Josh 🥳

Josh is 7 years old, incredibly social, and loves meeting new people.

“He is always down for a party,” Breanna says. “And if there isn’t one, he will make one himself!”

Josh has been diagnosed with Jansen DeVries syndrome, also known as JdVS, which is extremely rare. Because JdVS is so uncommon, Breanna often explains Josh’s autism and intellectual disability diagnoses first so that people can better understand his needs.

When Breanna Realized Josh Would Need Diapers Longer

Breanna and her family have been getting diapers through UroStat Healthcare since 2023.

“When we first started, we honestly had no idea he would still be in diapers at age 7 and beyond,” she shared. “At the time, we just thought it was a helpful way to save some money.”

But over time, what started as a practical decision became something much more important.

As Josh has gotten older, finding diapers large enough for him has become more difficult. Breanna knows it will only get harder as he continues to grow.

The Daily Challenges of Parenting a Child With Special Needs

Breanna says parenting any child takes all of your time, but parenting a child with special needs can make everyday life even more overwhelming.

Between IEP meetings, therapies, evaluations, sensory overload, insurance calls, and constantly adapting their home for a growing boy, there is always something that needs attention.

“Between IEP meetings, driving to therapies, evaluations, baby-proofing the house for a growing boy, handling sensory overload, and constantly navigating insurance calls, the specialized care our children require can be overwhelming,” Breanna says.

“There simply aren’t enough hours in the day to manage all of these specialized needs and get the quality time we want with our kids.”

How Home Delivery Through UroStat Helped Josh’s Family

For Breanna, one of the biggest benefits of working with UroStat Healthcare is not having to spend time shopping for diapers.

“Not having to spend time shopping for diapers is a massive mental and physical relief,” she says. “I don’t have to leave the house, and the supplies are delivered right to my door.”

Finding diapers big enough to fit a 7-year-old can be difficult in a regular grocery store. Having supplies delivered gives Breanna peace of mind and takes one more stressful task off her plate.

Potty Training Progress and Looking Ahead

Breanna says Josh is finally at an age where he is having fun with potty training.

“We are finally at the age where Josh is having fun with potty training, and we feel like we are halfway there!”

Even with that progress, she knows they are still years away from being able to sleep through the night without a diaper.

Knowing they will not have to spend years searching for the right size or paying high prices for specialty supplies gives Breanna confidence about the future.

The Greatest Gift Is More Time With Josh

For Breanna, the greatest gift of having supplies delivered is not just convenience. It is having more time and mental energy to spend with Josh.

“At the end of the day, the greatest gift this service gives us isn’t just the supplies. It’s the gift of time and mental energy,” Breanna says.

By taking one more stress off her plate, Breanna can spend less time worrying about diapers and more time enjoying the incredible, social, party-loving little boy Josh is.
